serious delinquency

Posted by Dan Hertz on December 20, 2005

Of course I’ve said this before… and this time I know that I really don’t mean it. But I should try to update this thing more often.

Currently at my parents’ for Christmas and New Year, enjoying my new powerbook immensely, since it lets me be online exceptionally easily.
Now if I can just get this set up to actually be useable to work from… I’ll be getting somewhere… I’m working on it.
Xcode should soon be my trusted friend… that and scripts.
Not sure how applescript works yet, and shell scripts are really kind of a pain. But then I don’t know propery shell language, as it were. Come to think of it, I don’t really properly know any language. I sometimes wish I’d had some kind of formal training in programming. I really don’t want to have to teach myself several more languages, but I guess that’s what I’m going to have to do, since I’ll at least need to know Root (and its godawful interface) and python or perl. Oh, and some type of shell scripting, whether that be ksh or sh or whatever. Even knowing the syntax of all those things would be kind of nice. Maybe I’ll start with that?

Being over here has also meant that I’ve been missing Amber gaming a lot. I’m hoping my character isn’t going to die or anything like that… actually, I’m hoping I get some vague idea of what the hell he’s supposed to be doing. Oh, and like always, I worry that he doesn’t have sufficient depth, and is too much of a one-trick pony. But I’m still working on that. For now I’ll say that the fact that he changes approach to things every session is just because he’s unpredictable, and not just me failing to have any kind of consistency.
