Wireless keyboard acquired

Well, I decided to go ahead and buy the thing. So far I don’t have any complaints, and the fact that it’s wireless is quite nice. I’m going to have to use it for a while before I can really make any statements about its ergonomic qualities, though. What I can say is that it’s very pretty looking :) But that should hardly surprise anyone, given that it’s an apple product.

Apparently there’s a bit of a wait on getting a wireless mac mouse. According to apple’s website, they ship in 5-7 business days. However, the Cornell store says they haven’t actually seen any of them in stock yet, which makes me a little bit suspicious as to whether or not they’re shipping them at all at the moment. I may order one and just see what happens.

Today my wrists do seem a bit unhappy but I think that’s primarily because I was doing a lot of very repetitve editing when I was cutting stuff out of a 29,000 line log file. I think I should write a script to do this for me, but it was actually informative to go through it and look at it manually, so I can’t say it was a total waste.

I’m waiting for my damn computer to get in. They’ve been telling me since Wednesday that it’s already shipped—in fact it might even be on campus and just hasn’t made it from the mail center to the computer people.

Since WEDNESDAY they’ve been telling me this.

I have to TEACH on Tuesday! I’m starting to get a bit irritated.

Doesn’t Apple give you, like, the UPS number, or whatever, so you can actually tell where a shipment is?

Oh, well . . . congratulations on your shiny keyboard! I’m envious.

BTW, they gave me a “loaner” Powerbook, which is totally pointless, because I have my iBook, and there’s no reason for me to install the software I need to actually work on the loaner when my new computer should be! here! any! millisecond! but anyway they gave me a Mighty Mouse to go with it. It’s ver’ ver’ nice. I lurve the scrolly thingie. Definitely the biggest PITA about the touchpad is that there’s no scrolly wheel, and of course making one that scrolls horizontally and vertically is exactly the sort of sheer genius you expect from Apple.

Wait, what computer are you going to be getting at work? And doesn’t your loaner powerbook have the two-finger thing? Which I saw somewhere that someone had made a hack for older iBooks and powerbooks for, somewhere. It might be worth looking up for your iBook?
They do have a thing on apple that lets you track things once they’ve shipped them, but they haven’t shipped the wireless mouse yet and don’t seem to think they will until the 31st. However, they’ve also been promising them to the Cornell Store for quite some time now, and they have yet to actually see any there. So I’m not expecting an email on the 31st saying that it’s shipped.
